Red Eye (2005)

1h 25m - Thriller - Director: Wes Craven - Writers: Carl Ellsworth & Dan Foos

[In this suspenseful thriller, a woman on a red eye flight discovers a fellow passenger is involved in a sinister plot.]

The plot of this movie is pretty common, someone gets accosted on a normal day and their loved ones life is in danger if they don't do what the assailant says. The big stand out is that they're on a plane this time.

The planning montage in the beginning was cool, the seamless moving and concealing of their illegal activities showing that this wasn't their first time and that they were prepared to see this mission through. So, it was surprising to see Jack struggling to adapt when Lisa kept trying to get out of making the call.

We find out later on that Lisa being on this flight wasn't planned and Jack had to change the original plan but surely this wasn't the best idea they could come up with. They were surrounded by people who ended up being a hindrance for Jack more than anything.

Lisa first attempt to call for help was stomach dropping when the stewardess at first remarked that "She  probably just wants another drink" and a small boom of unsettling music played. Pretty much setting up what the rest of the movie is going to look like until Lisa took matters into her own hands.

I knew Lisa wasn't in any danger of truly dying but still I felt like I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what she would come up with next.

They did end up sharing some background information about Lisa through some flirting/ friendly banter with Jack at first before it becomes unsettling as Jack starts showing that he isn't joking about his answers.

And about unsettling, Cillian Murphy did that really well with his intimidating blue stare lol. But Rachel McAdams really stood out with her emotional range and her more intense scenes like when Lisa's plans are thwarted and the running scenes. Which I loved, the camera angles when she didn't know where he was kept on scaring me.

Overall, Red Eye a engaging movie that grabbed my attention the whole time.
